I recently shared on Facebook this awesome article about decluttering your closet by utilizing one simple word: joy. My stylish photographer friend, Lauren, shared this philosophy with me (I’m definitely a sentimental hoarder), and it clearly resonated with many of you as well; loved the dialogue that ensued.

Reading that article has really helped me rid myself of items, removing guilt over pieces I’ve rarely worn or just don’t love. I admittedly have a long way to go but one of the things I’m realizing in my home and in my closet is that I have so, so many solids. I love a good print yet own too few (which led to the clutch in this post). I spied this dress last month at Bloomingdale’s by this new-to-me brand, Amanda Uprichard, and immediately fell in love. It has a great pattern and color mix, fit well (without alterations!), and is just so fun. It makes me happy, and gives me “joy.” With a birthday gift card, I purchased it without hesitation and wore it over the weekend to a fun fundraiser. It’s been so warm here lately, otherwise layering a denim jacket or even blazer would be a good way to stay warm on a chillier evening.
