Remember my confession on Monday that I’m really a flats girl? Ok, cats out of the bag, so now I’m back to share my current favorites. The d’orsay style (where the front and the back are not connected) is huge right now; however my advice is put it on your foot to see if it’s flattering. I like options with a bit more exposed skin or a v-shape by the toes.
In terms of wear, consider your pointed-toe flats a perfect alternative to heels or rounded toe flats. They’re impossibly chic, classic, and promise they’re comfortable (at least the right pair is!). And, like I said Monday: don’t worry if your foot is on the bigger size. I’m 5’3 and wear a size 9, and don’t have any issues. There are hundreds of black options but couldn’t resist sharing a few other favorites (ps: just ordered the leopard pair; I’ve been debating them for months and months and finally went for it. Every girl needs a pair of leopard, flats, right?)
This outfit is so me. Denim, casual top, a little bling, and flats. I realized I don’t wear flats in outfit posts nearly as often as I do in real life. Plan on changing that. As much as I show you my real outfits, they’re often the ones I like best, think will photograph well, and often include a pair of heels, when in reality I’m in flats 4 or 5 days each week. Beyond helping go fast on crazy days, I’m just plain clumsy. No joke. I walk into walls, multi task when I shouldn’t, it’s really ridiculous.
If you’re not a flats girl, promise you that a pointed toe flat looks ultra chic, is flattering to the leg line and can be way comfier than a pair of killer heels (bring those in the car to swap out if you need!). And, if you have larger feet, it still works: I’m 5’3, and wear a size 9. I’ll be sharing more pointy toe favorites later in the week; until then, here’s a recent outfit during a cooler snap we had in Florida.

This might be crazy but as someone who loves finding pieces at a steal — be it designer for less, a major sale, or a total bargain find at Target, for example — I love checking out my outfit and giving a quick mental calculation about how much it cost. Often my shoes or handbag cost more than everything else combined! Love the feeling of seeing an entire look come together based on a number of good finds.
Based on chats with friends and many of you, it’s clear we’re all hitting up Target for style at a deal. Collections keep getting better each season (same goes for the home goods! More on that in a few days). Couldn’t help but compile a few of my recent favorite steals that are awesome enhancements to any outfit. I recently purchased the lace blouse — which looks like finds for five times more — and I am pretty much stalking those sandals (pssst… just don’t tell the hubs that the pajamas are already in my cart!).

I’m so excited to announce to you today that The Average Girl’s Guide has taken our love for Tarjay one step further: in addition to serving as part of its Inner Circle group, we’ll now be dishing up bi-weekly style content with outfits that integrate some of our favorite Target pieces, plus how us real girls wear the latest trends and more. It’s a natural collab and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
TAGG’s first assignment was to create a ‘sporty chic’ look, which has been so hot right now. Since I recently purchased this blouse (which subsequently inspired this post!), I couldn’t wait to show it off here. It’s sporty and chic all in one with its baseball tee shape and cool florals in a light weight chiffon fabric. Playing off another style I’ve been inspired by bloggers to recreate, I’m layering this blouse over a faux leather sheath dress. Tada: looks like a skirt! It’s such a smart, fresh way to remix all your dresses for a completely new look. I can’t wait to try this again soon.
more fun, after the jump… Keep Reading —>>
