If you admit to watching KUWTK (Keeping Up With The Kardashians) like I do — it’s amusing tv, people! — then you’ve certainly taking a glimpse inside Kourtney’s gorgeous home. Obsessed. There’s a lot going on, and it might not be everyone’s taste, but it’s incredible inspiration, reminding me to pay attention to the details. I’m newly in love with learning more how to decorate my house so it feels like a home, and details like wallpaper, window treatments, lighting and more, really transform a place. Her home (now on the market) gives me a lot to think about. Dreaming I could just move in…

A few months ago I was talking to one of Inner Circle’s contacts at Target when I off-handedly made a comment about how its home line, Threshold, pretty much rocks my world. While I’m totally lost when it comes to design and decorating, all of a sudden Target took me from browsing past its home aisles with pretty much total disregard, to completely causing me lake work nights a result of my two-hour procrastination debating lights, pillows, frames, baskets and other accessories (I mean how great are these mirrors, below?). threshold logo

Upon my love affair mention, the folks at Target generously offered to connect me with Tim Kehoe, associate design director brand management + trend — basically, he leads the teams that bring designs to life and also is involved with creating the conceptual designs. I must confess this interview was done months and months ago, and while it’s taken me forever to get it to you (mostly because of our cute little baby boy!), so much of what he says resonates with me on a regular basis. Excited to bring his expert design insight, some of our Threshold favorites, and tomorrow, how I decorated my Threshold bar cart. Shall we begin?

TAGG: Tell me about the Threshold line. Why/when did Target to create this collection? I recognize Target has stepped it up in a major way with home, and Threshold, along with Nate and other lines, are a true testament how people of all income levels are heading to Target for quality, on-trend pieces.  Keep Reading —>>

Short on time, but high on festivities? Ha! Me too. I’m not the most creative gal around — hence the lack of DIYs around this place — but I certainly love easy and creative ideas for Halloween. Some of these concepts are shockingly easy, while others (like that Boo sign) might take just a bit more work… though the payoff is so worth it! And, the devilishly delicious treats? Divine!

homemade granola bars

September 17, 2013

I’ve been dying to make my own granola bars for ages. I eat store-bought and often think, wow, this tastes artificial, sugary, etc., or I’m still totally famished 20 minutes later. When I was chatting with food contributor and photographer Libby about a few fun recipes we could share here (remember the caesar brussel sprouts and the homemade jam so far?), learning how to make — and then share with you! — homemade granola bars topped my list. Perfect for breakfast on the go, it’s also a great snack for anyone. Here Libby gives us the rundown how she made these yummy treats…

If you’re concerned about what’s in your granola bar, then it’s time for you to make your own!  My one plea: know what’s in your honey and buy raw honey if at all possible. It’s worth it.
