I get the safety net associated with black. It’s ‘flattering,’ it’s camouflaging, it goes with everything. Yet, when it comes to a jacket, black can be bulky and not always stylish. I’m also much more of the idea that it’s the fit and not the color that’s the most flattering, and often a beautiful color can totally pick up and flatter your skin tone in ways that black can come across as drab. I recently heard about the latest trends for fall from fashion stylist, Katherine Lande, who said that outerwear in a fun color, even pastels, make a major style statement…. and I couldn’t agree more!

Think about your wardrobe and what would complement most of your pieces. A fun color can add vibrancy to a darker winter wardrobe. For example, last year I purchased a fuchsia cross-body bag and was shocked how it went with everything, all the time. It was the best pop of color, and one I now gravitate toward. If you’re unsure, try one of the pastels or other colors at a bargain (which most of these are!).  From work to that fancy cocktail party this holiday season, won’t you feel just a bit more special bundled up in one of these?
