Beauty Essentials

January 15, 2013

Good tools are as important as the products. Keep reading why these three are among my daily essentials to get this busy woman/mama out the door in very little time….

Essence of Beauty blender sponge: Do you use liquid foundation, bb cream or something similar? If so, grab this! Similar versions can run up to $25 however Kaitlin Instagram’ed this and I’m so glad she did. At less than $5 from CVS, use the pointed edge for under the eyes, around the noise and mouth, and the wider base on your cheeks, forehead and chin. Just rinse with soapy water. Makes my make up — this BB Cream, in fact — go on so much smoother.

Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System: I really wanted to invest in the Clarisonic that everyone raves about just couldn’t justify nearly $200, or even $120ish for the mini version, so I took the leap when I recently had a 25 percent off coupon to CVS and got this to test. It’s a dual-speed cleansing brush with an exfoliating cleanser that seriously gives your face the smooth feel of a mini facial. It comes with this great exfoliator, or you can use your own. A total steal at under $30.

Remington Shine Therapy Straightener: Ok, compelled to share an oldie but favorite. Introduced ages ago by Jodi, I’m still a fan of this ceramic hair straightener that zaps major frizz without leaving my hair dull. I now go up to three  (sometimes four) days between washes so I refresh with this between blow outs since my hair can slightly puff after a humid night out  or have a weird shape after a good night of sleep.

I keep seeing similar blending sponges evey where. I’m gonna give it a try. I don’t often wear foundation since I have a pretty even tone BUT it’s under $10? Worth it for the few times that I do!

I recently picked up that Olay brush too for the same reason, too much for a Clarisonic! So far, so good!

I’ve got to get one of those. I don’t want to pay over $100 for one either. This is great! Thanks for the tip.

I snagged that Olay brush at a previous FABB and have been in love ever since. It’s the perfect price and works just as well as Clarisonic! LOVE the Beauty Blender sponges but can’t justify spending that much for it so I’m excited to give this similar product a try!

I’ve been looking for a new straightener {that doesn’t cost $200} so I should check this one out. I WISH I could go that long without washing my hair…I’m totes jealous. I could get SO much more sleep!

I am curious about the Olay cleansing system. I saw the reviews for the Clarisonic Mia - the smaller one - and I really want it but I am deterred by the price, like you. How long have you been using this for? Does it help with blackheads? I saw that sponge at CVS yesterday and it was the last one - It caught my eye but didn’t buy it!

The Clarisonic Mia isn’t worth the money for it. It hold a charge for about 2 washes. With its charging time at 10 hours, I expected more than 2 washes.

Thank you so much for the shootout!! I hope you enjoy the sponge at least a fourth as much as I do! I love it!

For $30 I have to try that Olay cleaner - I can’t quite justify a Clarisonic purchase either :/ Thanks for the review!
