My quest for the perfect military vest can be traced back at least two years ago when I borrowed Kimberly’s during a blog conference and knew I needed my own. I’m convinced it’s that versatile layering tool that goes over anything like this outfit, or a great tank dress, or something in the middle like a v-neck tee and shorts. I’m hesitant to splurge on new-to-me styles — especially when I can find what I want at a steal — and in Florida there are only so many days you can pull off a vest without sweating to death.
This Old Navy find is a major style win in this average girl’s closet, adding extra personality and depth to an otherwise pretty basic white look (though how cute are the gold pineapples on this $12 tank?!). I wore this outfit on Saturday for brunch to celebrate my grandma and husband’s birthday’s (an annual tradition; they’re one day apart), and I felt pulled together, yet comfortable, all day.
PS: these flats were a recent splurge…. went for it during the amazing Saks sale because as we discussed in this post I’m really a flats girl at heart who wanted a chic neutral pair in lieu of heels or wedges. These transition seamlessly from weekday to weekend, and I adore the quilted and gold details.
