Outfit: Denim on Denim

This outfit totally depicts how I’ve been feeling lately (blue! check out the vent sesh this week for details) and is an ode to a color that has been among my favorite since I was eight years old. Man, I loved my blue. Blue and stripes and the 12-year old version of this chick was a happy girl. Now that I found my chambray shirt at the J. Crew outlet I’ve been dying to wear it all the time. I wore it a few weeks ago with pink denim (a brief glimpse here) and here it is, denim on denim style, for super casual. Funny how denim on denim was such a “no” just a year or two ago and now it’s a major “yes” (just go for color contrast when doing so).

What I love about this outfit is think about how easily this outfit changes with shoes (and perhaps a tote to a clutch, too). And, this is a glimpse at my “ballerina bun.” In reality it’s my lazy ‘do that happens about three times per week until I find a minute to blow dry my hair. As long as I keep it slicked back (I use Garnier hairspray) I’m in good shape.

chambray button down: j. crew factory (may 2011) // jeans: forever 21 (may 2011; just $10!! similar, same price) // necklace: j. crew bubble via ebay (details here) // flats: soludos (may 2011; obsessed!) / bracelet: baublebar / nail polish: light blue is essie and darker blue is zoya (stay tuned for colors!)

I have recently realised the beauty of double denim (different shades of course or one ends up looking like they are in 3rd grade again…although those were the good old days :)) I  did a post about it myself.
There’s just something so comfortable about the combo and my GAP denim shirt is one of my favourite things to throw on that really makes an outfit.
I am also loving your necklace! Such a fab statement piece. I wish we had J Crew here in the UK. I miss it!

As blue as this is, it’s so NOT drab at all! Well done. I love the pink necklace addition, too.
