home decor

Truth be told, I’ve unnecessarily been eyeing the lamp on the left and pretty much the entire web site of Lulu & Georgia for an embarrassingly long time. They have such good home decor….the rugs, art, accessories, totally worth it — all feel original and special. Be careful: the site has become a time warp there’s so much home eye candy. That said, do I neeeeed to spend $400 right now on a set of lamps for our master bedroom? I have a lot of other spaces I’d like to invest in.

Enter, this own-worthy version. While the shape is not identical, it’s the closest match with the gold/bronze base detail and overall feel that I’ve found in a long time. The navy set with this white shade is in my cart, and feeling confident it will add the perfect color punch with our light grey walls, white duvet and orange x-benches for less than half the price of the version I’ve been ogling.

If you admit to watching KUWTK (Keeping Up With The Kardashians) like I do — it’s amusing tv, people! — then you’ve certainly taking a glimpse inside Kourtney’s gorgeous home. Obsessed. There’s a lot going on, and it might not be everyone’s taste, but it’s incredible inspiration, reminding me to pay attention to the details. I’m newly in love with learning more how to decorate my house so it feels like a home, and details like wallpaper, window treatments, lighting and more, really transform a place. Her home (now on the market) gives me a lot to think about. Dreaming I could just move in…

how to style a bar cart

February 26, 2014

IMG_7430

Bar carts are having a moment when it comes to interior design. While I’m the most ‘average gal’ out there when it comes to decorating, my love affair for blogs convinced me that we needed a bar cart in our home, despite having two children under 5, being clumsy and not really having a dedicated space to put it. Catch this recent post loaded up with bar cart inspiration? Yeah, such good ideas! So, when I saw this cart for under $130, it had to be mine. Luckily, it fits perfectly in a dining room nook. While it’s just jazzed up for now since we haven’t had any big dinners, it’s really the perfect spot for anything — from water pitcher, overflow from your table, or even cookbooks, flowers or  picture frames — to the more traditional storing liquor, wine and glassware.

Be creative with its uses; it’s really just a table on wheels, and check out after the jump more ways to style this specific one (love the DIY one where she refinished it).

bar cart inspiration

Ah, the illustrious bar cart. I don’t know the exact moment happened when I, a now mother or two who doesn’t even drink, felt absolutely compelled to have a bar cart in my home. It became a mission to not only find the perfect spot but to also find one at a killer price point. I saw this one at Target and soon so did the rest of the world. It’s been photographed everywhere, including a few images below, and is just pure magnificence. So when I told my Target friends about my love affair over pretty much everything Threshold, the line behind this gem, they offered to connect me to a designer. Gasp. This average gal with a crazy *lack* of penchant for anything design?! Sure! Sign me up. I’ll fill you in on that amazing interview soon enough however in the interim here’s some inspiration helping me fill up my bar cart (since it has to be relatively child friendly!).
