Here are two of my latest beauty finds (though I know some have been fanatic about these products for years!). I finally tried them in a sample size thanks to Birchbox and have recently bought the full gorilla! (huh, Birchbox? Must read now!).
Two new finds: one helps keep make-up put and the other helps me totally remove it.
Philosophy Purity face wash: My skin felt instantly cleaner and more refreshed after just one wash! Even though it’s a little pricey for moi ($20; I’m such a drugstore face wash gal!), I’m a total convert. I now rotate this with my gentle St. Ives exfoliator while in the shower. You get the deep clean without any harsh feel. And, no joke: this has about 6,000 purely, glowing reviews on Sephora.
Smashbox Photo Finish primer: Because of the somewhat steep price (about $36), I put off buying this for ages. I finally went for it after testing it out in a sample size because it makes such a difference! Apply under foundation, it gives your skin this smooth, flawless finish. I swear my skin looks so much better, my make-up lasts longer and I feel more polished. People swear by this and now I totally get the hype. If you’re not ready to take the plunge, head to a Sephora if you have one nearby to test/ask for a sample; they usually do!

How do you think the primer would be for sensitive skin?
I think it would be great, particularly because it doesn’t feel like it gets absorbed into the skin. You’d have to inquire further but I have fairly sensitive skin and have never had an issue and absolutely LOVE the results.
I’m loyal to my Khiel’s face wash but I will have to try the primer. Do you feel it on your face? I hate that feeling when you feel like you are wearing makeup…
I don’t really feel it on my face… you do for a second but then it disappears and actually makes any foundation you put on feel a lot lighter and look smoother, more polished and professional looking.
I am addicted to smashbox photo finish primer! I’ve been using it for years, and love how silky it feels going on!! Plus, my makeup stays PUT! I too like using the philosophy face wash, alternating with st.ives exfoliator, also in the shower lol!

…I will say that I don’t do primer, I’ve tried to Smashbox and didn’t like, but I put my moisturizer on right before my makeup and it have the same exact effect!

I used to use that Smashbox all the time until I read from her and then all over the interwebs that MONISTAT is a cheap alternative. You can get a huuuuuge tube of it for $6 and it has the SAME ingredients… works just as well! People swear by it. Weird I know….. but it saves me from spending $40 LOL!!!

It’s no joke - the ingredients in the Monistat chafing relief gel are almost 100% the same. I used to use Smashbox all the time, but I’ve been using the Monistat as a primer for about 2 years or so now! It is kind of awkward to buy it at the store….but I got over it after a few times!
Except for the time that I had a coupon for $2.00 off that I randomly found in the newspaper and the lady at the register paused for an awkwardly long amount of time to see what it was for and make sure it was in my cart. LOL! Whatever: my makeup looks fabulous
