5 Must Haves featuring Stripes or Sequins

Meet Grace. A NYC gal who’s a brand manager in the beauty biz by day and a sweetheart, fashionista blogger by night. Frankly, her blog, Stripes and Sequins, had me at hello. Anyone who knows me from way back when, knows that there’s not a striped shirt without my name on it, and the newer me is obsessing over sequins, shimmer and shine.

I always love hearing from her about new brands, the latest trends and buzz, and am enamored by her DIY skills. Seriously. It’s crazy impressive. Follow her step-by-step instructions to make looks the bauble designers at J. Crew and would totally covet. I’ve loved getting to know this gal and am confident you will, too.  I’m just so thrilled she’s guest blogging with us today. With that, won’t take up any more of your time, sweethearts…

In her words, here are 5 must haves… featuring Stripes or Sequins (or both)!

Hi everyone! It’s Grace here, from the blog, Stripes and Sequins. I was so excited when Alyson asked me to write a guest post for The Average Girls Guide. My blog is all about fashion, beauty, and DIY… and stripes and sequins are (obviously!) my two favorite things.

Alyson asked me to feature my top 5 striped and/or sequined pieces for Spring. It was incredibly hard to pick just 5… but here they are!

Striped boat neck top from Chance Co.

If you haven’t heard of Chance yet, you are truly missing out. Yes, their t’s are a bit more expensive than Gap or Old Navy, but their t shirts are just heavenly. The cotton is super soft, the drape is amazing… you get the gist. And you really can’t go wrong with this classic boatneck shape ($60).

A fabulous sequin clutch
I’m always on the hunt for pieces that look different (without breaking the bank.) This one ($98), from Moyna, is simply stunning. I love the sequin, stud and bead detailing. It looks like something my grandmother might have used sixty years ago. I also love the oversize shape – there’s nothing worse than having to decide between your camera and your lip gloss because nothing fits into your bag.

Sequin tank
I simply love this blush-toned oversize sequin tank from Trina Turk. It is both striped and sequins, and the rose gold and blush tones are totally on trend ( it’s also on sale, $89.97 from $228). I’d wear it with everything – tucked into a skirt with a jacket or cardigan for work, or with dark skinnys, tons of rose gold jewelry, and tall heels for a night out.

Striped dress from Old Navy
This dress is just perfection. The navy and red combo is my favorite, but the gray and white version is also super cute (and just $24.50). It’s the perfect dress to throw on to wear to a weekend brunch or a day of errands.

Statement necklace
Lastly, I just adore this necklace ($198) from Stella & Dot! You could wear it with literally anything. It’s a true show stopper. I could see Olivia Palermo pairing it with a striped boatneck and a cute mini. This is one of those great pieces to have in your arsenal… when you don’t like your outfit, just throw on a statement necklace and you’ll instantly elevate the whole look.

I hope you enjoyed my guest post! For more fashion inspiration, beauty reviews, and do-it-yourself projects, visit my blog!
