Summer Whites

May 30, 2012

White! A favorite. I could wear white all-year-long (fashion rules be damned!) however now that we’re past Memorial Day it’s more acceptable — almost required — that you don some white. While every wardrobe should include a great white tee and white jeans, use white accessories to heat up your look as the temperatures rise.  They brighten up every look and just feel so fresh, pure. Pair them with golds and camels (think belts, jewelry and purses) and mix and match with other colors you’re loving this spring… neons, navy, pinks and lime greens.

Here’s a few white accessories — with everything under $100 (except the $150 Michael Kors watch) — that I’m totally coveting this spring. The bracelet, this bathing suit cover-up, those earrings, the flats… drooling!

Giveaway: Lolly Scarf

April 12, 2012

Scarves are one of those ultra versatile pieces. Go for chunky ones in winter, and light-weight options in the spring to add dimension to your look. Needless to say I was thrilled when the folks at Lolly - a celeb-brand favorite — offered to give one TAGG reader one of their silk scarves, how could this gal say no? Wouldn’t make me a very nice person!

Upon a closer look at the brand, I was smitten. Lolly’s rich patterns, textures and interesting play with color are totally fresh. Each of its pieces are designed in -house, with an innovative layering dye process, to each item their own unique look, with prints inspired by natural and rich origins from around the globe. The price point is not inexpensive, yet it’s reasonable (under $100 for a top, under $200 for a dress) and love that you know your look is totally custom.

Lolly Clothing has dip-dyed Spring 2012 scarves and silk pashminas that are worn by the likes of Gwyenth Paltrow, Gisele Bundchen, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parker and many more. Another Monday, another outfit here at The Average Girl’s Guide. By the looks of this outfit you’d never know that I have been addicted to color lately. Pink denim? It doesn’t leave my legs during the weekend (a visit to my Instragram feed will tell you that!), however I just bought these MIA heels via 6pm.com and felt compelled to pair them with a work appropriate look (though I also adore them with the previously mentioned pink denim). Mixing patterns is so “in” right now — I have a striped top + floral skirt that I must photograph for you — and this look is another pattern-mixing option. Staying with the same color palette and pulling in a pattern on an accessory makes it a little easier to ease your way into the trend.

blouse: old navy (winter 2011) / pants: h&m (march 2012) / heels: MIA “glee” via 6pm.com (March 2012) / necklace: forever 21; similar (March 2012) / gold bracelet: derng via etsy (April 2012)

Psssstt: TAGG’s included in this week’s links of the week round-up by International Fashion Bloggers (IFB). This list is always a must read for me to catch up on some of the best blogreads of the week so I’m honored to be included.

Mirrors can instantly transform a space. It can appear to double the size of your room, add a touch of glam or a vintage vibe, add high drama, and offer instant polish with nominal effort. I swear every wall in my house could have a mirror — I find ones I adore much more readily than being able to commit to artwork. In fact, they are art. Make one the center of a wall, update your generic bathroom countertop mirror with one that adds instant glam (on my to-do list!), or create a dramatic collage of mirrors. {It’s also a great place to check yourself out!} Check out these mirrors that would certainly serve as a stand-out in any space.
