heels

Are you the type of person who swears that black can’t mix with brown or that your bag must match your shoes? Break that habit. You no longer need to worry about those formal style rules. Rich camel browns that are light enough (to create color contrast) pair gorgeously with black and other neutrals (remember my fall black dress/brown boots look as an example?).

Want the style created for you? Try two-tone shoes. They’re popping up everywhere so they’re forcing you to embrace the new style feet first! I couldn’t resist the heeled pair below from Target earlier this the week; I’ve worn them twice in four days! They go with absolutely everything, they’re so cute (I don’t think the picture does them justice) and truth: the comfiest! Great support with the straps around the ankle and the heel is not too high. If shoes are not for you, add a camel brown belt to a black dress or with black slacks and a colorful top (I suggest fun stripes or florals for summer!).

Here’s a few two- (or three!)-tone shoe options: flat, wedge and heel!

Flat: Zara two-tone sandal ($49.95) // Wedge: Sam Edelman Sophie // Heel: Target’s Merona Edith ($24.99, also comes in black)

Random title right? Well it’s because today is moving day for my office — just two months after moving my pr firm to our new home we’re now becoming completely official with 900-sq.-ft. of real freaking office space! Truth be told, I’m still in a bit of shock. The movers will be here within the hour and there’s still packing to do. And, yet this woman is only human. While I should be packing I’m taking another look at this two pairs of heels (in various hues) that I can’t get out of my mind. They’re Zara, of course, which has some of the coolest, on-trend wears yet their pieces feel effortlessly timeless. And, both pairs total are under $100 so they’re totally justified as a summer need right? Right. Don’t get started on Zara’s site unless you have time to time (and money!) to burn. This average girl wants it all.

PS:  The heels are coming back soon in a size 9 so if anyone grabs them before me you are in major trouble. Just thought I’d put it out there. I know how to throw elbows and I’m not going to miss these hotties again. Ha! Happy Friday!

Champagne Shoes

December 27, 2011

Champagne/light gold shoes are crazy useful. While the ones I wore in yesterday’s post used to be relegated to ‘fancy’ looks, I realized that that’s silly. I now enjoy them with everything… even jeans!

I did a similar post last year just before last New Year’s Eve, too, because what better time to think about anything champagne than right before New Year’s Eve when we’re practically required to sip the bubbly! Don these with your favorite black dress, your work attire or for happy hour.  For the ones that are a little more glitz than your office can handle (1, 2, 4 and 8 are best for work), wear wide leg pants so you’re just showing the front, or save them for the nights out.

1.  little bow peep via modcloth 2.  dvf serra (swoon!) 3. madden girl toriie 4.  born dorota flats (cozy chic!) / 5. unlisted act one t3 6. nine west ladyvenom (exposed arch? oddly sexy!) 7. caparros wyndham 8. nina forbes (love nina’s!)

TAGG tip: mix these with any metals, they’re totally neutral (though rose or yellow gold would be my first choice)!
