5 Must Haves: Natalie

November 10, 2011

Meet Natalie. A local friend, we’re also Board member pals for a non profit called The Foundation for Community Betterment. What do I love about Natalie? The better question is what do I not love! I wish I had video on this blog (soon enough!) because Natalie has the sweetest, helpful voice you could ever hear.  And, you know those women in your life that even though you aren’t the closest friends for whatever reason (lack of time is mostly mine!), you know they would be there for you in a heartbeat?  That’s this chick.

Besides being a total sweetheart, Natalie always also has on a killer outfit — usually fabulous frocks! — with knock-out heels (come to think of it: I don’t know if I’ve EVER seen the girl in flats, ha!), and is a gorgeous blonde, to boot! I’m thrilled she agreed to give TAGG her five must haves because whatever she’s doing… I should be doing, too!

Check it out:  in her words, here’s Natalie’s 5 must haves of the moment….

A good foundation: Warm? Cool? Olive? Give up? (I don’t have a clue, either). The best way to find your perfect match is to leave it to the professionals. Stop by any cosmetics counter — I prefer Nordstrom - to ask for help finding your shade. If you’re fending for yourself, swipe a few colors vertically across your jawline, and pick whichever one is barely visible. To apply: After cleansing and moisturizing your face, apply foundation with your fingers! It’s quicker and easier than using a sponge or brush, and best of all, its free. Simply dab the foundation onto the areas that need it most (me: ruddy cheeks, dark circles, uneven spots) and blend.

Clarisonic Mia: So many of my friends have been raving about their Clarisonic, which uses a sonic frequency to clean and tone skin. So I decided to invest in the Clarisonic Mia, which is the perfect size for anyone who travels a lot (hello holidays). So far I’ve been obsessed with mine and have noticed a HUGE difference in my skin. TAGG insight: I’ve heard RAVE reviews about this, too. Totally on my holiday gift list…for whoever is taking notes, of course!

Lancome Hypnose: Initially, I was skeptical based on the ads promised. After all, it had an odd shape and I was addicted to Lancome’s Definicils. Why mess with a great thing? After trying it, I have to say the odd shape of the brush takes some getting used to, but the color goes on smooth and silky without clumping. My eyes have never looked larger. The effect is similar to false eyelashes; no idea how they did it. Lancome Hypnose is my current favorite mascara!

Sriracha Chilli Sauce: I started using Sriracha a few years ago and now fear I’m addicted. The smell makes my mouth water and I even crave it while I’m eating it, trying to think what my next snack or meal may be so I can have more! When I have consumed half a bottle I get more, fearing that I will run out. I have even seriously considered keeping a bottle in my purse just in case some restaurant I might be eating may not have it…..I think I may have a problem! Right now I’m using it on salads, mixed in salsa for chips and rings and basically anything else that I think needs a spicy kick.

Dresses: Anyone who know’s me, know’s I’m a dress girl! Day dresses, evening dresses, Lilly Pulitzer Sunday dresses, sweater dresses, Ann Taylor work dresses, and of course the beloved shift dress make it so much easier to get dressed in the morning when you only have one piece to compliment your shape. This way you can focus the rest of your morning on shoes and accessories! TAGG mention: a few cute dresses: here, here, here and here.

5 Must Haves: When Traveling

November 3, 2011

Meet Angela. If you want to get insight about the must haves to bring when traveling be it for the day or for extended trips, it’s this gal. A personal friend who lives here in Palm Beach, she is always off somewhere exotic, exciting and glamorous with her boyfriend or friends… that is, when she’s not putting on her Dr. hat as the busy, on-the-go owner of Palm Beach Medical. If you think I have a full schedule, wait until you meet her! And, I find it amazing how Angela finds time to fit it all in, including major travel. Just last year, she — who has a troublesome knee — climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. Totally amazing, right? And here I am, just sitting in this chair!

She’s also a huge advocate for heart health who last year was one of the prestigious junior chairs for the local American Heart Association Palm Beach Heart Ball (HUGE gala where everyone wears red gowns during this Valentine’s Day bash). She’s also always a twitter with great health and fitness tips since he  as you’ll see in her tweets. A totally worthy follow.

So, without further ado, meet Angela and her 5 must haves when traveling…

As we all know I am on the go and travel quite a bit.  Sometimes I am gone from morning until night so I have to keep everything I need packed in my car and purse.  If you’re also on-the-go, here are the items I suggest throwing in your bag.

Lip Plumping Lip Gloss: I use Lip Fusion ($29), which comes in all sorts of shades and shines.  It really does plump your lips and there’s a clear gloss if you just want the shine and plump.  They also come in travel sizes (6 travel size for $19.95!) that are small enough to fit in any small clutch for a night out!

O24™ Pain Neutralizer  Sample packets:  This really helps with muscle aches and pains and lasts for hours.  I use this on my patients in the office but I also like to carry the towelettes when on-the-go.  The sample packets are perfect to put in your purse or suitcase for traveling.  They also smell wonderful!

Flat Exercise bands:  I LOVE these!  When traveling, they light-weight and don’t take up much space in my suitcase.  You can use them anywhere (living room, backyard etc.) and for increased resistance, just double up the bands ($4).  It is possible to get a full body workout (muscles and joints) with them.  I like to give my patients these bands with customized workouts (depending on their needs) to do at home. Available at Sports Authority and Walmart stores for under $10.  Now that’s a cheap workout!

Antioxidant serum: The antioxidants help fight free radicals and the vitamin C helps healing and brightening of the skin. I’ve been using an antioxidant with my moisturizer for about 8 years. With living in Florida in the sun, it’s nice to have a serum that brightens the skin and fights against wrinkles. My favorite? Neova Antioxidant Serum.

Dry Shampoo:  Since my hair color is always changing it’s important to find one that sprays on clear.  I have tried about six brands so far and The Big Sexy Hair one is the best I’ve found.  It’s also great if you want to add a little texture for a big event or give yourself some volume.  If you are jet lagged or traveling it’s fabulous to have in case of emergencies.  I buy mine at Mucci Salon in downtown West Palm Beach.

Do you want to share your five must haves? This column is not just for bloggers only! If you are passionate about five items — any five items — at the moment, I’d love to hear from you. TAGG is all about every gal so let me hear ya. Now, here’s today’s…

Meet Kimberly. She’s a recent blog friend, as I discovered her blog through mutual buds and was immediately enamored. Called Penny Pincher Fashion, she totally finds the cutest, most on-trend pieces that you would never think were a steal and yet… they are! A stay-at-home mom, budget is important since her household has just one income. While she says it takes some time and extra patience, looking fashionable on a budget is totally attainable.

More about Kimberly? How cool that she made it to round two on American Idol back in its ruling-the-tv days!  She’s also a pretty fierce roller skater who can do jumps (doubt she’d want to hang with me; I can hardly get around that loop!) and has two adorable kiddos. I’m just getting to know her but no doubt, I love her must haves. Adding some faux fur is tops on my fall fashion list.

Here are Kimberly’s 5 wallet-friendly must-haves of the moment:

Animal-Print Accessories: Completely on-trend without going overboard ~ I love adding just a touch of animal print through accent pieces to spice up an outfit.

NY & Company Animal Print Skinny Belt - $11.47 / Kelly & Katie Savy Suburban Wristlet - $19.95 / Mossimo Versie Pumps - $29.99

Jewel-Toned Polishes: To me, there is nothing that says fall more than a deep, rich nail color. I am all about the jewel-tones right now because they lend a certain sophistication and look great on any skin-tone.

OPI Cucoo For This Color - $4.31 / OPI From A to Zurich - $7.65 / OPI Diva of Geneva - $5.65 / OPI Ski Teal We Drop - $2.00

Sparkling Baubles: What girl doesn’t love a little bling? All you need is one of these pieces for maximum impact…and you don’t have to wear real diamonds to achieve the same look (for less)!

F21 Rhinestone Choker - $20.80 / Modcloth Sperical Sparkle Earrings - $14.99 / R.J. Graziano Rhinestone Bracelet - $24.00

Faux Fur: Fur is such a luxurious texture & it considerably ups the glamour quotient of any outfit. And now they are making the faux options just as soft & appealing as the real thing (but with a much lower price point).

H&M Faux Fur Vest - $49.95 / ALDO Opdyke Handbag - $34.98 / ELLE Ankle Boots - $57.99

Burgundy Lips: This is the perfect time of year to switch out your bright red lipstick for this dark wine-colored hue. It’s season-appropriate, sultry & classic all at the same time.

Revlon Matte Lipstick (Wine Not) - $5.04 / L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick (Pure Burgundy) - $8.49 / Shiseido Perfect Rouge Sheer (Natural Wine) - $25

Thank you so much for letting me share my “must-haves” with you & thank you to Alyson for letting me guest post here on TAGG!  You can see more of my style, get hair & beauty tips and discover frugal fashion finds on my blog: Penny Pincher Fashion.

OK, maybe the headline is a stretch but I just had to include the blog name of Jamie, who today is sharing her five must haves. She’s the blogger for I Look Good Today, a fun and inspirational blog from a fellow PR pro who loves fashion, her husband, living life and lots more. Her blog is about ‘memoirs from a girl who’s done it all while sitting down.’ While she might be seen daily in a wheelchair, this nothing this girl can’t do! I absolutely love this recent post she just wrote about finding love (yes, we’re all worthy of it!).

She also features some outfit posts, answers readers questions and more. She’s another Twitter connection and one I’m glad I made! We now have a ton of bloggie friends in common.

Here are Jamie’s 5 fabulous 5 must haves of the moment!

MAC Satin Lipstick in Twig. This is by far one of my favorite lipsticks, especially for fall. I’ve gone through tubes and tubes of this particular lipstick because it’s such a wonderful and versatile color! The neutral pinky-brown is great for everyday wear. It’s also a good color when used in combination with other brighter lipsticks when you need to tone it down a notch. The satin, creamy finish is extremely long-lasting. It’s a staple in my makeup bag!

Hot Carmel Apple Cider. I love to warm up a cool day with a mug of hot cider topped with a hint of caramel. It’s flavorful, comforting and the flavors really do remind me of a warm slice of apple pie.

Scented Candles. I like to have candles throughout my home that reflect the season – cinnamon, apple pie, marshmallow, fireside, pumpkin, candy corn, vanilla, spice, etc. Candles add such a charming glow and fill the air with an inviting aroma that instantly gets me in the mood for my favorite season.

Animal-Print Accessories. Such a chic way to rock fall’s fiercest accessory trend. I have always been a lover of animal prints, but sometimes feel that wearing a dress or even a blouse, depending on the print, can be a bit overwhelming. Adding cute animal print earrings, belt, purse, etc adds that rawrrr factor to my outfit that is sure to make me say, “I look good today!” (TAGG comment: check out this adorbs phone case? I think I’d give a little rawrrr every time I take my phone out! And, you know how much I love, love my leopard belt!)

Tights. With each coming fall, my legs are given another opportunity to express themselves. From titillating tights to legwarmers, there is much excitement around my legwear. I find this to be a fun way to add a little something extra to an outfit that you can’t do in the hot summer months. Check out this versitile pair of tights from Modcloth.
