outfit: faded blues

lace and denim

For more than a year I’ve been searching for the perfect pair of distressed light denim with a slimmer fit, in contrast to the baggier boyfriend style more common with this wash and style. I even purchased a more relaxed fit last year thinking it would work. It didn’t. It made me feel bigger, sagged in the crotch, and unlike celebs and style bloggers who rock them with major heels and somehow look effortlessly chic, I just wanted them for weekend errands to wear with flats or sandals.

Enter this pair (which perk: are now on sale)! Fun story: I asked my friend Stacy where she found her amazing denim, only to tell me she heard about them from Brianna who discovered them from someone else. Apparently I’m not the only one on the hunt for something like this. Best part? They’re Gap (i.e. stylish yet affordable). Within 24 hours I was in a fitting room with two more friends trying them on.

A few tips for light denim: go for an even wash. This is key. You don’t want fading down your thigh or tush; never, ever flattering. Even more pear shapes can wear a pair like these because of the all over tone. Wear them with flats like this, with heels (I swapped these flats for heels on Friday night) or flip flops, tee and tasseled necklace for the weekend. I’m obsessed with any necklace that has a tassel.

lace crop

PS: this semi-crop top is one I alluded to a few weeks back while raving about Express’ latest looks. I’ve garnered a gazillion compliments thanks to this top, whose sheer baroque detailing balances the slight boxier cut. It comes in a few colors and is one of my favorite spring additions since determining I needed to find some great blouses instead of stocking up on more and more tees.

What a pretty top. I love how you layered it over tank top. It’s truly hard to find something what you know you want. I’m still on hunt for blue shirt , black blazer and many other good wardrobe staples which somehow is hard to find.

Love those jeans, might grab the non-distressed ones so I can wear them to work, but the distressed just look so much more summery! And I need summer right now! Or even spring!

I’ve had the same trouble looking for bf jeans: the best-fitting pair of boyfriend jeans I’ve ever tried on…was from my boyfriend’s closet. Every other pair just paled in comparison. I still prefer darker washes, but I have to agree with your tip to look for an even color. Otherwise, it kind of looks like a throwback to 2004.

This is adorable and the jeans are perfect. I like the idea of the BF jean without the saggy butt!
