PGA National Resort

It’s been so insane here lately, guys. I may have hit the overwhelmed stage and can’t help but think back to a few weeks ago when, feeling the same way, my husband and I indulged in a little staycation at PGA National Resort (remember this delish cocktail? Yeah, from this place!). They’re practically across the street, and have had a slew of summer packages to make spa and relaxation affordable for this average gal.

Keep reading for more about staycations, why we enjoyed PGA National Resort… and the Ice Cream Festival they have in the works. Yeah, you heard that right!

Do you staycation? Especially with as connected as we all are, taking a weekend or even just a day to unplug, or go somewhere that forces it!, really clears the head and energizes you even if you can’t take a real getaway. Bring your magazine stack, splurge on a pricey lunch and feel like you escaped the craziness of life for what feels like more than a few hours. Plus, now there are so many Groupons, Living Social deals and others that you can totally find a soothing massage, or special mani/pedi package for a major steal!

One of the favorite reasons I love going to the Spa at PGA National Resort are the amenities; there’s these “Waters of the World” pools — one even has dead sea salt! — where you can lounge outside, read, sun and have lunch. Cocktails practically required! The locker rooms are luxe with flavored water, fruit and showers stocked with their products, and everyone just walks around in robes and sandals. Heaven. On this visit I indulged in a creamsicle massage (smelled so good, and had just the right pressure… my shoulder blades had been dying), and a facial. I left feeling rejuvenated, refreshed and recharged!

This below? Make your own spa treatment! Mine is an exfoliator (you can pick from salt or sugar!) mixed with a nourishing oil in any scent you’d like that has made my showers heavenly. I tend to apply mine on the back of my arms and it immediately takes away any roughness without leaving an oily feeling. It’s such a fun indulgence just to so open the container (on the left in the pic directly below).

And, right now they’re planning for this week’s Ice Cream Festival — umm yeah, can I justify another staycation?? — so they’re pairing up spa treatments with your favorite ice creams. THink Strawberry Shortcake, Chocolate Eclair or Toasted Almond-infused Mani/Pedi, a Creamsicle Massage or Strawberry Shortcake body treatment.

if you live local, PGA National this weekend is a must: they’re having an Ice Cream Festival from 2 to 4 p.m. where you can indulge on 40 gourmet varieties of gelatos, sorbets and ice creams from Whole Foods. Yum! {tickets here}. How good does this Big Taste event sound for Saturday afternoon? Ice Cream + Air Conditioning = Florida Summer Perfection!

This place looks great, and an ice cream social sounds amazing!

Thanks for sharing your stay cation experience. I try to squeeze in at least one day cation at least once every few months! Groupons and Living Socials really help make it affordable enough to treat yourself.
