giveaway: origami owl necklace — CLOSED

April 19, 2013

One of the sweetest things about wearing jewelry is that it can offer hold special, sentimental place in our heart about a loved one, special trip or anything else. So when a friend introduced me to Origami Owl, I was immediately smitten… err, obsessed. Not sure I get its name, but who cares, the jewelry is gorgeous and is each piece becomes ultra special and customized to you or whoever is lucky enough to get it gifted from you.

Consider it a modern take on the traditional locket, fill these “living lockets” with charms, gems and letters with meaning to you; they have hundreds to select from. In the photo below, I picked a laptop (love my blogging!), wings (remembering my grandfathers, who both passed away last year), an “S” (for my daughter’s name and our last name), a heart (with gemstones with my husband’s birthstone), and an infinity for love. The wine glass or a pair of heels were close behind! Ha.

Perk is that unlike some other brands that encourage you to update with new charms and keepsakes, this is super affordable — most charms are just $5, perfect for swapping out or gifting! Plus, my new jewelry bud, Jaclyn Lezza, a local independent Origami Owl designer, has generously offered to gift one TAGG reader her very own living locket! Keep for yourself, or make it the perfect gift… Mother’s Day is fast approaching! You get to pick everything, the charms, the chains, lockets and other special details. Here’s how you make one, with plates, charms and dangles being totally optional. There’s also the tags, as you can see above.

Check out the selection and make your custom piece here, and be sure to enter to win one here….

I’d want a silver July boy and silver July girl birthstone charm for each of my children. And then the silver heart with red crystals. I’d put them all into a silver locket & on the silver 2mm rolo chain. I think the plate that says “family” is perfect. I’d dangle with a crystal cross and guardian angel. That was fun! I follow you on Facebook, liked Jacyln’s page, and tweeted about it.
