OUTFITS STYLE

outfit: sequins + denim

IMG_7228 IMG_7248 After watching the Grammy Awards last weekend, I was immediately inspired by all the sequin, shimmer and glam. I know that New Year’s is behind us but that doesn’t mean we should put away our sequins until next holiday season, right? Playing off the sequin trend at the show I decided to mix this new skirt with a tee + denim jacket, a style I’ve coveted on Pinterest and countless other bloggers for ages. I’ve always felt this girl couldn’t pull it off but once I found this amazing skirt for just $20, I knew it was meant to happen. I love how this turned out, and nerdy as it sounds, how effortlessly cool I felt wearing it. While I’m just playing dress up here, I’m so excited to wear this during a NYC trip in March.

Another exciting part of this outfit is well — not exactly the outfit — my hair. This is day FIVE hair, where I’ve been using this amazing new styling wand. I purchased after learning that someone who’s hair I majorly covet started using it. It’s genius because you don’t have to turn the barrel; you simply turn this knob with your fingers and it twirls your hair around. After one or two tries, I’m able to curl my hair. I just touch up daily.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

Ditto to Kim! Love how effortless you made these sequins look. It’s so fun to take pieces that are “dressier” and make them more accessible for daytime.
