How to Layer Necklaces

March 21, 2013

Layering necklaces, from uber delicate to massive baubles, comes natural for some and a major challenge for others. A personal favorite way to layer is to take a sentimental little piece paired with a statement maker (see yesterday’s instagram for an example!). Take lessons from mixing and matching your arm swag and integrate the fun on your neck. Totally agree with Jackie who you’re about to meet that a statement necklace transforms, scores major compliments and most importantly, make you feel totally chic without a lot of fuss.

Excited to have Jackie Abramo, fashion editor extroidinaire from BaubleBar, which is a total go-to for affordable, on-trend baubles. Meet her (check out Jackie’s and co-workers bauble obsession; it keeps selling out!), and then keep reading to see TAGG and Jackie share our favorite ways to layer (all finds under $50!). Psst, if you like what you see, add this mystery gift to your cart with any $50 purchase!

How to Layer Necklaces

Delicate: “When it comes to layering pendants, I’ve found that ‘bar-style’ pendants (like the arrow) tend to get tangled less when worn with other delicate necklaces.  To keep the look from being too flat, it’s best to mix in a little sparkle, like this love necklace.”
Mid-size range: “I love the look of these two pieces together. A great way to dip your toe into the layering trend is by sticking with like colors.  The spiky strand is a great update when added to the curb links, something most gals have in their jewelry box.”
TAGG picks —-> Or, mix delicate and mid-size, short and long:
lance pendant  + wishbone pendant (somehow sweeter when it’s a sentimental piece or looks like it!)
monogram + peri hex strand (part of the atlantic-pacific collab)

pink links: “I love the look of all these different pink links layered together, and its only one necklace!”

cobalt collar: “I dig that this necklace is two trends for the price of one; a little bit of sparkle and a brightly colored cord necklace.”

tagg find –> jet geo necklace: “black, coral, crystal plus triangles and hexagons make this a dramatic necklace with a tee or your lbd!”

Ooh I love that pink necklace (and this entire post)! I find that I pretty much always need to layer on a longer necklace to balance out a bigger chest area. It’s an optical illusion I’m trying to achieve!
