Nom Nom Nom

July 26, 2012

Sensing a theme with the latest round of snack food finds? While I often crave a crisp apple or right now, a juicy plum, there are moments when all I want it something a little rich, sweet and chocolatey. Clearly, I’m partial to peanut butter and chocolate being brought together whenever possible.

Keep reading to see what these are and why TAGG loves them…

Banana Babies: I discovered these via a BOGO deal last month and am totally smitten. It makes me feel good that there’s a frozen banana somewhere in here and the rich chocolate taste with a thick coating (and clocking in around 150 calories) makes me a happy girl. This is a frequent desert around these parts of late, especially in the dark chocolate variety.

Skinny Cow: ok, not as much new as just have to be sure you’re aware. I also load up on these when they’re BOGO, and was thrilled when the company recently sent me coupons to sample them again this summer. While they now have ice cream tubs and a variety of new flavors, I always go back to the ice cream sandwich. It’s the perfect ice cream treat and I’m all about portion control (who the heck can stop at a serving size when you’re faced with a 1/2 gallon tub? I’m much to weak!).

Honey Maid Grahamfuls: holy mother! I was at the grocery store on Sunday starving and we all know what happens when we’re starving? Fast forward and this box is in my cart and I’m ripping open one to try. So good! Peanut butter and chocolate sandwiched between two thick graham crackers make this a little indulgent treat any time of day.

Immaculate Baking Co.: I bought these with the intention of baking them for a party. Fail. That hasn’t happened but because they’re already pre-portioned it’s really easy to bake just a few at a time and leave the rest in the fridge. Made with high-quality ingredients, a friend told me kids in her ‘hood was raving about her cookies so when moms asked for the recipe? She directed them to these! PS: no need to pre-heat your whole oven if you’re baking just a few; I use my toaster oven (a la RHONY’s Sonja Morgan!) for a quicker prep/stomach satisfaction night.

Quaker Chewy Dipps: Have you tried these? Truth be told, while I love regular Quaker bars I’m hungry the moment I finish them so I haven’t purchased them lately. However, these — particularly in peanut butter (I wasn’t wow’ed by the cookies and cream) — are rich and decadent at 150 calories. My gram introduced me to these and I couldn’t be happier.

Haha I am not ashamed to say I have a history of making break-and-bake cookies in the toaster oven (and love the RHONY reference!)

i understand the convenience of these snacks but they are all pretty easy to make at home too, and then you avoid all those gross preservatives and the waste of packaging!
