Resolutions

January 1, 2012

Happy New Year! Wanted to take a moment to share with you my resolutions for 2012, which actually happen to be more life resolutions. I am considering framing these (likely placed on my bathroom counter top) as a reminder of what truly matters, what I really want. I don’t have to accomplish all of this 100 percent by Dec. 31, 2011, however it’s important to me that create time and effort to become the woman I envision for myself. These ‘resolutions’ will help me get there.

Live in the present (i.e. don’t stress about what you cannot change OR might not even happen)

Streamline wardrobe: Buy only quality clothing that I love.

Take a photography class.

Learn to sew on a button that falls off on my cardigan/blazer

Visit my grandparents more often. I have all four within 30 minutes of me.

Exercise more. Make time to feel healthy.

Take my daughter to ballet class (I just really want to see her in a tutu!).

Read at least one book/month.

Plan/go on a girls weekend.

Volunteer with young women and mothers.

Spend more quality time with my husband (iPhones not allowed).

Learn basic HTML and Photoshop.

Feel guilty less.

Curb my evening internet time.

Learn to make one new dish per month really well.

Continue to compliment someone at least once day, often strangers who least expect it. My favorite!

Have a Shabbat family (and friends) dinner every few months.

Treat myself to more manicures.

Make time for friends and family that really matter.

PS: here’s my New Year’s Eve mani with sparkles I added on last minute a la Love Maegan (and check out Fab Fatale today for a very similar metallic version!).  Thanks to the help of my bb (best buddy, D) at CVS on NYE, I found this awesome bottle of $.99 nail polish that was the perfect addition to my Essie VIP purple. Love the combo of small and large sparkles… so much that I think all my nails will look like my ring finger by Monday.

GREAT list!!! I am totally with you on trying to live in the present, learning to sew, volunteering… just to name a few! Also, 2 quick things: 1)definitely post pics of the little one in a tutu… I’d like to see it too! 2) I’d better be involved in this girls weekend. just saying. ;)

Happy New Year, Love! It’s been so great getting to know you!! xo

Ugh – the evening internet time is a hard one for me too! My hubby always gets on my case for it – I say, “I’m just going to check Twitter real fast”…and then 30 minutes go by. :( Oh, and sign me up for the girls weekend – that sounds like fun!! xo

    Happy New Year!

That’s what I think… she loves dancing, moving, listening to music, so I really think she’d enjoy herself… beyond my interest in seeing her in a tutu. :)

Girl! Come on over and we’ll knock out the button sewing thing in 10 minutes. You will feel so accomplished! :) . Great list, Happy New Year! XOXO

For real?? I will TOTALLY take you up on that! Perhaps before we go to the auction one Friday night? Would LOVE it. (wow, lots of caps; I’m EXCITED! haha)

Awesome list! I love them all and need to follow suit :) Your nails look fab! I love the glitter; Sephora by OPI has the best glitters, with the large and small pieces…except they aren’t 99 cents :(

I have that polish and that’s what I put on for NYE but over the silver Muppets OPI polish- love it! Happy New Year!

One thing I hope to do is to curb my net time in the evening as well- I find it’s not as productive as what I do at other times in the day and I hope to unplug more often in the evenings and do some reading, journaling or crafting instead while turning in earlier so I can get up earlier and power charge my day!

Wishing you a fabulous 2012- keep us posted on your goals! :)

Great resolutions!!! Since getting my iPhone, spending time on twitter and facebook at night has gotten really bad! Even throughout the day. I do need to make a conscious effort to stop the obsessive checking!

    • Alyson

Yeah, the iphone does it for me too, so even if I’m not on the actual computer and with my husband, I’m still distracted. I’ve started moving the iPHone out of hands reach! ha.
